On Monday, one of Pitt’s top recruiting targets received a huge offer in his recruitment process.

Class-of-2025 guard Derek Dixon added an offer from Hubert Davis and his North Carolina staff, per his Twitter account.

Dixon is a 6-foot-3 combo guard who is ranked as a four star by 247 Sports. He is the No. 79 overall player in the class, per the site’s composite rankings, and is the No. 2 player in DC. He plays his high-school ball for Gonzaga and his summer ball for Team Takeover on the Nike circuit. This past weekend, Dixon starred for Team Takeover in front of Davis (UNC) as well as Pitt’s Jeff Capel and many other coaches in Indianapolis.

In addition to Pitt, he holds offers from Villanova, Miami, Virginia, West Virginia, Cal, Mississippi State, Iowa, Penn State, Syracuse, Maryland, Providence, Saint Joe’s, East Carolina, George Washington, George Mason, and others.

He has taken numerous trips up to Pitt since Panthers’ assistant Milan Brown and the rest of the staff have been recruiting him.

Most recently, Dixon took his official visit to Pitt in mid-April.

Pitt currently has a crowded back court heading into the 2024-25 season: Damian Dunn (Gr. Student), Ishmael Leggett (Senior), Jaland Lowe (sophomore), Amsal Delalic (freshman), and Brandin Cummings (freshman).
