Pitt Hosting 2025 3-Star LB Target on Official Visit

Pitt linebacker target Bryson Williams.

It’s almost June, just three days away, and that means official visits are rapidly approaching. And Pitt has locked in another target for an official visit next month.

Bryson Williams — a 6-foot-2, 220-pound three-star athlete from St. Mary’s in Orchard Lake, Mich. — announced on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he will be taking an official visit to Pitt from June 13-15. He’s already taken an official visit to Harvard and has more planned for Kansas (June 7) and Michigan State (June 21).

RM LAW, P.C. is a boutique litigation law firm with a national practice dedicated to protecting shareholders’ interests and promoting improved corporate governance practices.

Williams picked up an offer from Pitt earlier this month, adding to an offer sheet that includes Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Illinois, Kansas, Kent State, Marshall, Michigan State, Minnesota, Penn State, Princeton, Purdue, Toledo, West Virginia and Yale.

“(The offer is) huge,” Williams told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “We’ve been talking for a while; I’m just glad that they offered.”

Archie Collins and Ryan Manalac, who have served as key recruiters in Williams’ chase, went out to see him at St. Mary’s late last year and kicked off the relationship on a high note.

Williams has been able to learn more about Pittsburgh and the program during his time building a relationship with Collins and Manalac.

“I didn’t know a lot but I got to know a little bit, where their facilities are and stuff like that,” Williams said. “I know they practice by the Steelers and I know their culture over there is pretty good, college town and all that.”

The relationships will be important for Williams as Pitt continues to recruit him. He’s built a strong foundation with the Panthers, but he’s looking to see how it continues to play out.

Pitt is looking at Williams as an outside linebacker in the model of a Star. It’s common for the Panthers to recruit high school safeties and move them down into the box. It would be the same for Williams, but he’s in the unique position of being a legitimate wide receiver prospect, too.

“They see me as an outside linebacker, kind of hybrid player,” Williams said. “They said they like the way I can move and my physicality. They said even when I’m on the offensive side of the ball, I’m not scared to go run over somebody or even use a stiff arm or something like that.

“I know they like to go get the quarterback, and I like to get the quarterback as well, so I could see myself doing that. And adjust to that pretty well.”

247Sports rates Williams as the 826th-ranked recruit in the class (63rd-ranked athlete and 17th-ranked recruit from Michigan) while On3 rates him as the 827th-ranked recruit in the class (49th-ranked athlete and 18th-ranked recruit from Michigan).

Rivals hasn’t ranked Williams yet, but he holds a 5.6 Rivals Rating.

Williams has been to most of the schools who have offered him at this point, and while he’s not set a commitment date, he is looking to find the place where he feels most comfortable. The relationship he builds with a coaching staff, how the players like a prospective school and the cultural fit are all things he’s considering.

“(Pitt is) standing pretty high, I can say that,” Williams. “Everybody is pretty high as well, but the more we build a relationship, the higher they’ll get.”

Pitt holds six commitments in the class of 2025, four-star cornerback Elijah Dotson, offensive lineman Shep Turk (Jefferson Hills, Pa.), three-star wide receiver Tony Kinsler (Port Orange, Fla.), three-star wide receiver Bryce Yates (Chesterfield, Va.), three-star defensive lineman Trevor Sommers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and three-star quarterback Mason Heintschel (Oregon, Ohio).
