Pitt All 105: Pitt LB Jordan Bass is the Prototype of a Pat Narduzzi LB

Pitt football linebacker Jordan Bass.

All-105 is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series profiling each of the 105 members of the Pitt 2024 training camp roster.

Jordan Bass, sophomore linebacker from Phoebus High in Hampton, Va.

2023 season: Bass recorded 11 tackles (six solo) and two tackles for loss last season

Stats: Bass has recorded 11 tackles (six solo) and two tackles for loss in his college career

Camp outlook: Bass couldn’t participate much over the spring but will work with the 1s and 2s during summer camp. He’s firmly in the mix for the Star linebacker spot

Projected role: Bass is one of the most naturally talented linebackers on the roster, and he’s likely going to form a duo with Jordan Bass at Star linebacker. But he’s versatile enough to play at all three spots

Bass (6-foot-4, 215 pounds) was the top-ranked recruit in Pitt’s class of 2023, arriving as a consensus four-star recruit out of Phoebus High in Virginia, and there was an expectation that — despite a late arrival — he’d be able to make an immediate impact. And he did.

In 10 games, making his first career start against Wake Forest, he recorded 11 tackles (six solo) and two tackles for loss. He took 116 defensive snaps in 2023, largely during the late-season stretch against Wake Forest, Notre Dame and Syracuse.

While he certainly made a few rookie mistakes last season, the experience — and the undeniable talent — will help immensely in 2024.

“I’m trying to be one of the versatile guys that can just be on the field whenever you need me, whatever situation you need me in, I’m there — ready to play,” Bass said before his freshman season. “As a freshman, that’s a great thing to have, in my opinion.”

With an entire offseason under his belt, even if he wasn’t able to hit every practice in the spring, the sky is the limit for Bass.
