Pitt ‘On the Bubble’ in Early Bracketology Prediction by ESPN’s Joe Lunardi

Published

It is never too early to think about the NCAA Tournament, at least, according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi.

Lunardi released his early bracketology prediction recently for ESPN.com, and Pitt made an appearance.

While the Panthers spent most of last season on the outside looking in, there was hope for a return to the NCAA Tournament berth leading up to selection Sunday in 2024. The Panthers did not make the field of 68, and shortly after, declined an invitation to the NIT. Now, as Jeff Capel and his staff have filled holes in the roster heading into next season, the team is earning some recognition in Lunardi’s early mock bracket.

Pitt came in as a No. 10 seed in the Last Four In category of his bracket. Lunardi has the Panthers playing against Saint Mary’s (CA) in Dayton to earn a spot in the Round of 64. Check out the full bracket here.

Pitt returns Jaland Lowe, Ishmael Leggett, Zack Austin, and several others from last year’s team. This offseason, the staff went out and recruited Florida State transfer big man Cam Corhen, as well as Houston transfer guard Damian Dunn and 6-foot-7 European guard Amsal Delalic. Pitt also brings in two freshmen in Brandin Cummings and Amdy Ndiaye, as well as a redshirt freshman in Papa Kante — who is coming off a season-ending knee injury in his first stint with the Panthers.

This might be one of the dumbest pre-season prediction exercises there is.

Lunari is just covering his ass after dismissing Pitt in early January. Big question is Scott Barnes, hope NCAA drops his ass after last selection Sunday.

Why would Lunardi need to “cover his ass”. He call ed Pitt out and was correct. Honest question- how stupid and self important are you?
