Pitt All 105: LB Dylan Bennett Brings an Edge on Special Teams

Pitt walk-on linebacker Dylan Bennett

All-105 is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series profiling each of the 105 members of the Pitt 2024 training camp roster.

Dylan Bennett, a redshirt junior from Montoursville High in Montoursville, Pa.

2023 season: Bennett played in all 12 games last season, serving as a special teamer and reserve linebacker

Stats: Bennett recorded six tackles (all solo) last season and seven tackles (all solo) during his career as a Panther

Camp outlook: Bennett will work in at Mike linebacker during camp, but his presence will be felt more amongst the special teams units

Projected role: Bennett likely won’t work too deep into the linebacking corps, considering the young talent around him, but he’s served as a key special teamer over the last couple of seasons and that isn’t likely to change

Dylan Bennett (6-foot-3, 230 pounds) initially joined Pitt as a preferred walk-on, earning the opportunity following a standout senior season at Montoursville in 2020, and he’s worked his way into a more prominent role on special teams.

He redshirted in 2021, not seeing any action, and he’s played in 23 games over the last two seasons. Bennett is also on the an All-ACC Academic team.

It isn’t the most glamorous job, but every college football team needs special teamers. Bennett is capable of serving on all four special teams units and recorded six tackles last season.

He has the ability to slot in at Mike linebacker if needed, but his impact will once again come primarily on special teams.
