Pitt Matchup in the 2024 ACC/SEC Challenge Revealed

Pitt men's basketball.

Pitt will take on a recent NCAA Tournament foe in the 2024 ACC/SEC Challenge.

Pitt will travel to Starkville, Miss. on Wednesday, Dec. 4 for a crossover clash against Mississippi State, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reported. It’s the first meeting between the two sides since Pitt knocked off MSU, 60-59, in a First Four matchup of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Other notable matchups include Kentucky at Clemson, Alabama at North Carolina, Texas at North Carolina State and Auburn at Duke.

Pitt fell to Missouri, 71-64 in the ACC/SEC Challenge last season, the second loss of the season to an SEC program — Florida in the Preseason NIT tourney.

Mississippi State is coming off a 21-14 (8-10 SEC) season in which the Bulldogs won a couple of games in the SEC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. MSU head coach Chris Jans is looking to get the ‘Dogs to their third straight NCAA Tournament.

The 2024-25 non-conference schedule is beginning to come together. It was previously announced that the Panthers will host Radford at the Petersen Events Center on Nov. 4 to open the season.

Pitt returns Jaland Lowe, Ishmael Leggett, Zack Austin, and several others from last year’s team that narrowly missed the NCAA Tournament.

Jeff Capel and the coaching staff went out and added Florida State transfer big man Cam Corhen, Houston transfer guard Damian Dunn and 6-foot-7 European guard Amsal Delalic. Pitt also brought in two freshmen in Brandin Cummings and Amdy Ndiaye, as well as a redshirt freshman in Papa Kante — who is coming off a season-ending knee injury in his first stint with the Panthers.
