Pitt All 105: DB Dante Caputo Returns for Final Season

Pitt defensive back Dante Caputo

All 105 is a Pittsburgh Sports Now series profiling each of the 105 members of the Pitt 2024 training camp roster.

Dante Caputo, a redshirt senior defensive back from North Allegheny in Wexford, Pa.

2023 season: Caputo did not see any action last season

Stats: Caputo has not recorded any stats since arriving at Pitt before the 2021 season

Camp outlook: Caputo is a veteran presence in the room, and he will work with the 3s during camp

Projected role: Caputo is entering his sixth season of college football and will spend his final season as a veteran leader and practice presence. It’s unlikely that he will see the field

Caputo (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) initially walked on at Wisconsin before the 2019 season and spent two seasons with the Badgers before transferring following the 2020 season. He returned to Pittsburgh to finish his collegiate career.

While Caputo hasn’t played much during his time as a Panther, just one appearance against UCLA in the Sun Bowl in 2022, he’s been a well-liked figure in the room.

I wouldn’t expect Caputo to see the field, barring a situation in which it makes sense for little-used players to see the field, but he’s going to close out his college career in his hometown and help try to turn the Panthers around.
