South Florida 3-Star WR Taking Pitt Official Visit This Weekend

Pitt wide receiver target Kha'leal Sterling

Pitt has targeted Florida heavily since Pat Narduzzi arrived as the head coach, but South Florida is the hotspot. And there’s a South Florida wideout coming to town this weekend.

Kha’leal Sterling — a 5-foot-10, 170-pound three-star wide receiver from Miami Central in Miami, Fla. — announced he’s taking an official visit to Pitt from June 20-22. It’s the first official visit that he’s announced this month.

Sterling holds offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Bowling Green, FAU, FIU, Indiana, Liberty, Oregon, Pitt, SMU, Temple, Tulane, UAB and West Virginia.

Pitt has been recruiting Sterling since the end of last year, with Kade Bell and former wide receivers coach Tiquan Underwood leading the way. JJ Laster has since taken over for Underwood, spearheading the effort to land the talented wideout.

Pitt, along with Arizona State and West Virginia, was included in Sterling’s top three earlier this year.

“Pitt is also one of the schools who keeps in touch with me and updates me about things and how we can change their program,” Starling told Rivals’ John Garcia Jr.

Sterling fits the mold of the type of wide receiver that Bell wants in his offense. He isn’t the biggest player on the field, but he’s a rocket with the ball in his hands and can take the top off of opposing defenses.

Sterling transferred to Miami Central ahead of his junior season, and while he’s a two-way player, his future lies on the offensive side of the ball. He hauled in 26 receptions for 609 yards (23.4 yards per reception) and seven touchdowns.

247Sports rates Sterling as the 1,090th-ranked recruit in the class (167th-ranked wide receiver and 146th-ranked recruit from Florida) while On3 rates him as the 1,184th-ranked recruit in the class (168th-ranked wide receiver and 150th-ranked recruit from Florida).

Sterling visited Pitt earlier this year, spending time in Pittsburgh following the spring game, but his official visit will go a long way in determining his impending decision.

Pitt holds 12 commitments in the class of 2025:

Elnagmi, three-star wide receiver DaMarion Fowlkes (Olney, Md.), three-star tight end Max Hunt (Tampa, Fla.), offensive lineman Shep Turk (Jefferson Hills, Pa.), three-star wide receiver Tony Kinsler (Port Orange, Fla.), three-star wide receiver Bryce Yates (Chesterfield, Va.), three-star running back Ja’Kyrian Turner (Bushnell, Fla.) and three-star quarterback Mason Heintschel (Oregon, Ohio) offensively.

Three-star linebacker Justin Thompson (Olney, Md.), three-star defensive end Julian Anderson (Orlando, Fla.), four-star cornerback Elijah Dotson (Detroit, Mich.) and three-star defensive lineman Trevor Sommers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) defensively.
