Two Western PA Natives Included in Top-150 Recruiting Rankings

As 247 Sports announced its latest class-of-2025 rankings earlier this week, five-star prospect Meleek Thomas and four star Amari Evans were both included in the top 100.

Thomas was ranked No. 10 overall, maintaining his five-star status. The former Lincoln Park star recently announced his transfer to Overtime Elite, leaving Western PA to join fellow Pittsburgh native Evans, who has played for OTE for years. Evans, ranked at No. 95 overall in the rankings, began his high-school career at Bishop Canevin before leaving for Atlanta to join the startup league.

Thomas and Evans are both being recruited on a national level, and also hold offers from Pitt. Evans is scheduled to take an official visit to Pitt this upcoming weekend.

There are only five players listed from high schools in Pennsylvania included in the top-150 prospect rankings. Zero current WPIAL players made the rankings, despite six players in the class of 2025 locally holding division one offers. That list includes Upper St. Clair forward Tyler Robbins, who recently added three offers, including two from local D1’s Robert Morris and Duquesne. In addition, Ama Tening Sow (Montour) and RJ Sledge (Imani Christian) also hold multiple offers from the division one level.

In addition, Zion Moore (Belle Vernon), Mikey Santicola (Moon), and more have all received interest from a handful of programs across division one and division two. Stay tuned on Pittsburgh Sports Now for the upcoming update of our WPIAL recruiting board.

On June 15, college coaches were finally allowed to contact 2026 recruits, as well. Pittsburgh-area prospects Rowan Carmichael, Jackson Bauman, Grant Spacciapoll, Scoop Smith, Strobl, and Josh Pratt (holds several D1 offers) all heard from schools as the contact period opened up.
