Pitt offensive line commit Torian Chester

The second commitment from the final official visit weekend has been revealed.

Torian Chester — a 6-foot-5, 315-pound interior offensive lineman from Westover in Albany, Ga. — committed to Pitt following a stellar official visit, he announced via X (formerly known as Twitter).

Chester committed to Pitt over offers from Buffalo, Colorado State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Liberty, Pitt, South Alabama, Tulane and Wofford.

The Pitt coaching staff first reached out after his spring game earlier this year, with Darveau as the main point of contact. The relationship has developed over the last few months, enough for the official visit to cement Chester’s commitment.

“Coach Darveau kept a buck with me,” Chester told Pittsburgh Sports Now earlier this month. “He was like, ‘Hey, we like your family and me and the offensive coordinator want to offer you, we’re just waiting on the head coach.’ And one thing I can say about that is I like how after being recruited so many times, I like how the offensive line coach kept it a buck with me and made sure he communicated with me on where things sit with me and the head coach.”

Pitt views Chester as an interior offensive lineman. He’s played both guard spots and center at Westover and possesses the size, speed and strength blend that makes him an asset in the run game.

“That’s the best thing that you’re gonna see on my film,” Chester said. “Yeah, I’m good at pass protection, but when it comes to my running game, I don’t play, I get off the ball, I don’t hitch, I go meet ’em.”

Chester isn’t ranked by the major recruiting services (247Sports, Rivals or On3), but that will change over the next few weeks as the class is reevaluated. He does hold a 5.5 Rivals Rating.

Pitt now holds 14 commitments in the class of 2025, with two unannounced Pat Signals:

Chester, three-star Akram Elnagmi (England), three-star wide receiver DaMarion Fowlkes (Olney, Md.), three-star tight end Max Hunt (Tampa, Fla.), offensive lineman Shep Turk (Jefferson Hills, Pa.), three-star wide receiver Tony Kinsler (Port Orange, Fla.), three-star wide receiver Bryce Yates (Chesterfield, Va.), three-star running back Ja’Kyrian Turner (Bushnell, Fla.) and three-star quarterback Mason Heintschel (Oregon, Ohio) offensively.

Three-star linebacker Emmanuel Taylor, three-star cornerback Shawn Lee (Harrisburg, Pa.), three-star linebacker Justin Thompson (Olney, Md.), three-star defensive end Julian Anderson (Orlando, Fla.), four-star cornerback Elijah Dotson (Detroit, Mich.) and three-star defensive lineman Trevor Sommers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) defensively.
