LOOK: Pittsburgh Native, Five-Star Meleek Thomas Visits National Champions

Published

on

Five-star guard Meleek Thomas took an official visit to UConn and head coach Dan Hurley over the weekend.

Although Meleek Thomas recently announced that he would be leaving local school Lincoln Park for Overtime Elite down in Atlanta, Georgia, the Pittsburgh native is still one of the top names in high-school hoops.

Thomas is on a tear this summer in the EYBL, and between games, practices, and making his decision to pursue OTE, Thomas has been fielding a crowded recruitment filled with blue-blood programs. This past weekend, he took an official visit to the program that is on top of the college basketball world right now.

Thomas visited UConn and head coach Dan Hurley, just months after the Huskies brought home their second-straight national title.

The highly-touted guard won back-to-back WPIAL and PIAA titles this season as a sophomore and junior, averaging 22.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. He has been a significant Pitt target since early in his high school career and has been to numerous games over the past few seasons alongside former teammate and current Pitt guard Brandin Cummings.

Thomas released a top-12 schools list back in September 2023 that included the following programs: Duke, Kentucky, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Miami, Villanova, Pitt, Tennessee, UConn, Michigan, and Auburn. Since that list was released, he has taken visits to Pitt, Auburn and Kentucky, and now has more visits on the agenda. Thomas plans to visit Arkansas and head coach John Calipari June 25-27, per multiple reports.
