Pitt Makes Cut for Huge 2025 4-Star OL, Announcement Coming

Pitt offensive line target Chastan Brown.

One of the top uncommitted offensive linemen in the class of 2025 has included Pitt in his final seven.

Chastan Brown — a 6-foot-8, 250-pound four-star offensive tackle from Northside in Warner Robbins, Ga. — has cut his extensive recruitment to just seven schools, per Leyton Roberts, and the list includes Georgia State, Houston, Louisville, North Carolina State, Pitt, UCF and West Virginia.

Brown cut Boston College, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa State, Liberty, Memphis, Troy, Tulane, UAB, USF and Wake Forest, among others, from contention.

Per Roberts, Brown is set to announce his commitment on July 11.

Brown was initially slated to take an official visit to Pitt over the weekend, but it appears that the visit never occurred — or at least wasn’t able to be confirmed by Pittsburgh Sports Now.

He took official visits to UCF (May 31) and Louisville (June 7) earlier this summer.

It doesn’t appear that Pitt is one of the leading contenders for Brown, considering he’s further along with other programs with only a few weeks until his commitment date, but Archie Collins and the coaching staff have been recruiting him since January.

“I think (Collins is) a good guy and like I said, I’ve already created a bond with him,” Brown told PSN in January. “So, I’m getting to know him. We were talking about the scholarship, getting me on campus and stuff like that. Photoshoot, tour of campus, stuff like that.”

As a kid from Georgia, Brown wasn’t too familiar with Pitt before the offer was extended, but he heard all about the “City of Champions.” And that certainly stood out initially.

Brown, a big, athletic left tackle who helped the Eagles in Class-6A action, has plenty of room to add weight to his massive frame. He’s “thin” as it currently stands, but he should be able to add plenty of weight while still maintaining his speed and agility at the point of attack.

247Sports rates Brown as the 188th-ranked recruit in the class (20th-ranked offensive tackle and 30th-ranked recruit from Georgia). Rivals and ESPN also rate Brown as a four-star recruit.

Pitt is looking to add one more offensive lineman in the class, with two interior linemen and a tackle currently committed, so Brown would fit a need. But it looks like Pitt is going to miss out on this one.

Pitt holds 17 commitments in the class of 2025, with one unannounced Pat Signal:

Smith, three-star Kha’leal Sterling (Miami, Fla.), three-star Torian Chester (Albany, Ga.), three-star Akram Elnagmi (England), three-star wide receiver DaMarion Fowlkes (Olney, Md.), three-star tight end Max Hunt (Tampa, Fla.), offensive lineman Shep Turk (Jefferson Hills, Pa.), three-star wide receiver Tony Kinsler (Port Orange, Fla.), three-star wide receiver Bryce Yates (Chesterfield, Va.), three-star running back Ja’Kyrian Turner (Bushnell, Fla.) and three-star quarterback Mason Heintschel (Oregon, Ohio) offensively.

Three-star linebacker Emmanuel Taylor (Virginia Beach, Va.), three-star cornerback Shawn Lee (Harrisburg, Pa.), three-star linebacker Justin Thompson (Olney, Md.), three-star defensive end Julian Anderson (Orlando, Fla.), four-star cornerback Elijah Dotson (Detroit, Mich.) and three-star defensive lineman Trevor Sommers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) defensively.
