Pitt Secures Commitment from 2025 3-Star LB Denim Cook

Pitt football target Denim Cook

A busy day for Pitt football continues with another defensive commitment.

Denim Cook — a 6-foot-4, 220-pound three-star linebacker from Bishop Hartley in Columbus, Ohio — committed to Pitt Monday afternoon following a stellar official visit to Pittsburgh last month, he announced on Instagram.

He committed to Pitt over Virginia, after taking official visits to both programs and held additional offers from Akron, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Liberty, Louisville, Marshall, UMass, Miami (Oh.), Ohio, Purdue and Toledo.

“Looking ahead, I am excited to announce my commitment to the University of Pittsburgh,” Cook wrote on social media. “This is just the beginning of a new chapter, and I am eager to continue both academically and athletically at such a prestigious institution. I am confident that with the support of my coaches, family, and community, the best is yet to come.”

Pitt jumped into the fray for Cook in January, with Narduzzi and Manalac extending an offer during a busy in-school visit period. He hasn’t visited Pittsburgh since picking up an offer, but he made a trip out for the Florida State game last November.

Cook is a little bit bigger than a traditional Pitt linebacker, but his versatility in a jumbo frame is intriguing. He has the look of a Money linebacker in the Panthers’ defense, but it seems as though he could slide down and play on the defensive line, too.

Cook was very impactful as a do-it-all defender for Bishop Hartley last season, racking up 116 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 15 sacks and 17 quarterback hurries — earning All-District, All-Conference and All-State honors.

247Sports rates him as the 79th-ranked linebacker and 29th-ranked recruit in Ohio while Rivals hasn’t rated him yet — although he does hold a 5.5 Rivals Rating.

Pitt now holds 20 commitments in the class of 2025:

The Panthers have landed three-star quarterback Mason Heintschel (Oregon, Ohio), three-star running back Ja’Kyrian Turner (Bushnell, Fla.), three-star athlete Synkwan Smith (Roswell, Ga.), three-star wide receiver Kha’leal Sterling (Miami, Fla.), three-star wide receiver DaMarion Fowlkes (Olney, Md.), three-star wide receiver Tony Kinsler (Port Orange, Fla.), three-star wide receiver Bryce Yates (Chesterfield, Va.), three-star tight end Max Hunt (Tampa, Fla.), Shep Turk (Jefferson Hills, Pa.), Torian Chester (Albany, Ga.) and Akram Elnagmi (Loughborough, England), offensively.

And Cook, three-star defensive end Julian Anderson (Orlando, Fla.), three-star defensive lineman Trevor Sommers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), three-star linebacker Emmanuel Taylor (Virginia Beach, Va.), three-star linebacker Justin Thompson (Olney, Md.), three-star safety Joshua Guerrier (Ocoee, Fla.), three-star cornerback Shawn Lee (Harrisburg, Pa.), four-star cornerback Mason Alexander (Fishers, Ind.) and four-star cornerback Elijah Dotson (Detroit, Mich.) defensively.
