ACC News: Commitments, Transfers Out, New Schools, More

There has been plenty of news in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the ACC, this week, including the addition of Cal, Stanford, and SMU.

This has already been a busy week for the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The league welcomed three new teams in on Monday, July 1.

In addition, there has been more news on the recruiting front for several schools in the league. Let’s dive in.

WELCOME CAL, STANFORD, and SMU

The ACC officially welcomed Cal, Stanford, and SMU to the league. While Cal and Stanford were initially scheduled to join next month, it appears as though the ACC’s social teams welcomed them into the conference a bit early anyways.

 

VIRGINIA TECH LANDS A 2025 BIG

On Tuesday, Virginia Tech landed a commitment from Christian Gurdak, a 6-foot-9 forward out of Gonzaga in Washington D.C.

Gurdak chose the Hokies over Penn State, Notre Dame, and others. He is ranked as the No. 98 player in the class of 2025 and is a four- star recruit, per 247 Sports.

SMU SCHEDULES HIGH MAJOR MATCHUPS

According to Made for March, SMU and LSU will play a two-game series over the next two seasons. The games will take place at neutral sites Dickies Arena (Fort Worth, Texas) and Smoothie King Center (New Orleans, Louisiana).

FORMER WAKE FOREST SHARPSHOOTER LANDS AT UTSA

On Tuesday, former Wake Forest sharpshooter Damari Monsanto committed to UTSA. Two seasons ago, he hit 41% of his threes, draining 87 on the season.
