2025 4-Star OT Making Decision Today, Pitt In Contention

Pitt offensive line target Chastan Brown.

Pitt has just under two hours to wait until 2025 four-star offensive tackle target Chastan Brown makes his college decision.

Brown — a 6-foot-9, 260-pound four-star tackle from Northside in Warner Robbins, Ga. — cut his extensive recruitment to just seven schools last month, including Georgia State, Houston, Louisville, North Carolina State, Pitt, UCF and West Virginia.

He cut Boston College, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia Southern, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Iowa State, Liberty, Memphis, Troy, Tulane, UAB, USF and Wake Forest, among others, from contention.

Brown was initially slated to take an official visit to Pitt last month, but it appears that the visit never occurred — or at least wasn’t able to be confirmed by Pittsburgh Sports Now.

He took official visits to UCF (May 31) and Louisville (June 7) earlier this summer.

It doesn’t appear that Pitt is one of the leading contenders for Brown, considering he made it out to a couple of his top contenders, but Archie Collins and the coaching staff have been recruiting him since January.

“I think (Collins is) a good guy and like I said, I’ve already created a bond with him,” Brown told PSN in January. “So, I’m getting to know him. We were talking about the scholarship, getting me on campus and stuff like that. Photoshoot, tour of campus, stuff like that.”

As a kid from Georgia, Brown wasn’t too familiar with Pitt before the offer was extended, but he heard all about the “City of Champions.” And that certainly stood out initially.

Brown, a big, athletic left tackle who helped the Eagles in Class-6A action, has plenty of room to add weight to his massive frame. He’s “thin” as it currently stands, but he should be able to add plenty of weight while still maintaining his speed and agility at the point of attack.

247Sports rates Brown as the 192nd-ranked recruit in the class (20th-ranked offensive tackle and 30th-ranked recruit from Georgia). Rivals and ESPN also rate Brown as a four-star recruit.

Pitt is looking to add one more offensive lineman in the class, with two interior linemen and a tackle currently committed, so Brown would fit a need. But it looks like Pitt is going to miss out on this one.

Pitt holds 21 commitments in the class of 2025, with an unclaimed Pat Signal out there:

The Panthers have landed three-star quarterback Mason Heintschel (Oregon, Ohio), three-star running back Ja’Kyrian Turner (Bushnell, Fla.), three-star athlete Synkwan Smith (Roswell, Ga.), three-star wide receiver Kha’leal Sterling (Miami, Fla.), three-star wide receiver DaMarion Fowlkes (Olney, Md.), three-star wide receiver Tony Kinsler (Port Orange, Fla.), three-star wide receiver Bryce Yates (Chesterfield, Va.), three-star tight end Max Hunt (Tampa, Fla.), Shep Turk (Jefferson Hills, Pa.), Torian Chester (Albany, Ga.) and Akram Elnagmi (Loughborough, England), offensively.

And three-star edge Denim Cook (Columbus, Ohio), three-star defensive end Julian Anderson (Orlando, Fla.), three-star defensive lineman Trevor Sommers (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), three-star linebacker Emmanuel Taylor (Virginia Beach, Va.), three-star linebacker Justin Thompson (Olney, Md.), three-star safety Joshua Guerrier (Ocoee, Fla.), three-star defensive back Cole Woodson (Haymarket, Va.), three-star cornerback Shawn Lee (Harrisburg, Pa.), four-star cornerback Mason Alexander (Fishers, Ind.) and four-star cornerback Elijah Dotson (Detroit, Mich.) defensively.
