Decision Day for 2025 3-Star Pitt ATH Target

Pitt football target Bryson Williams

Pitt started off the month of July with a bang, landing three commitments on July 1, and while it’s been quiet since, that could change today.

Bryson Williams — a 6-foot-2, 220-pound three-star athlete from St. Mary’s in Orchard Lake, Mich. — is announcing his commitment decision today, with his decision coming just before noob. And it appears that his decision has narrowed down to Kansas, Michigan State and Pitt.

He’s picked up offers from Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Illinois, Kansas, Kent State, Marshall, Michigan State, Minnesota, Penn State, Pitt, Princeton, Purdue, Rice, Toledo, West Virginia and Yale throughout his recruiting process.

Williams took official visits to Harvard (April 20), Kansas (June 7), Pitt (June 13-15) and Michigan State (June 21) earlier this year.

Archie Collins and Ryan Manalac, who has served as a key recruiter in Williams’ chase, went out to see him at St. Mary’s late last year and kicked off the relationship on a high note.

Williams has been able to learn more about Pittsburgh and the program during his time building a relationship with Collins and Manalac.

“I didn’t know a lot but I got to know a little bit, where their facilities are and stuff like that,” Williams told Pittsburgh Sports Now earlier this year. “I know they practice by the Steelers and I know their culture over there is pretty good, college town and all that.”

But it’s the relationships that will make a difference as Williams decides between his list of finalists.

Pitt is looking at Williams as an outside linebacker in the model of a Star. It’s common for the Panthers to recruit high school safeties and move them down into the box. It would be the same for Williams, but he’s in the unique position of being a legitimate wide receiver prospect, too.

“They see me as an outside linebacker, kind of hybrid player,” Williams said. “They said they like the way I can move and my physicality. They said even when I’m on the offensive side of the ball, I’m not scared to go run over somebody or even use a stiff arm or something like that.

“I know they like to go get the quarterback, and I like to get the quarterback as well, so I could see myself doing that. And adjust to that pretty well.”

247Sports rates Williams as the 930th-ranked recruit in the class (72nd-ranked athlete and 18th-ranked recruit from Michigan) while On3 rates him as the 827th-ranked recruit in the class (49th-ranked athlete and 18th-ranked recruit from Michigan).

Rivals hasn’t ranked Williams yet, but he holds a 5.6 Rivals Rating.

Pitt holds 21 commitments in the class of 2025, with an unclaimed Pat Signal out there:

The Panthers have landed three-star quarterback Mason Heintschel (Oregon, Ohio), three-star running back Ja’Kyrian Turner (Bushnell, Fla.), three-star athlete Synkwan Smith (Roswell, Ga.), three-star wide receiver Kha’leal Sterling (Miami, Fla.), three-star wide receiver DaMarion Fowlkes (Olney, Md.), three-star wide receiver Tony Kinsler (Port Orange, Fla.), three-star wide receiver Bryce Yates (Chesterfield, Va.), three-star tight end Max Hunt (Tampa, Fla.), Shep Turk (Jefferson Hills, Pa.), Torian Chester (Albany, Ga.) and Akram Elnagmi (Loughborough, England), offensively.
