Zoo Crew, Pitt Hosting The Basketball Tournament Saturday

This weekend, Pitt will host The Basketball Tournament at the Petersen Events Center in Oakland. Here is everything you need to know.

On Saturday, Pitt will host the first round of games in The Basketball Tournament, a $1 million winner-take-all tournament. Pitt has an alumni team playing in the event, called “Zoo Crew.” Here is all the information you need to know about the Pittsburgh regional for the 64-team tournament.

Dustin Sleva (Shippensburg U)

Sleva is the lone non-Pitt player on the roster. The Pittsburgh native played for Montour High School and then went on to play at Shippensburg in college. He has since played professional basketball for six years, starting out in France, playing in Germany, and this past year, playing in Spain. Sleva averaged 8.5 points per game this past year for UCAM Murcia. He has had four professional seasons of over 40% shooting.

*NOTE: Jamarius Burton was initially announced as a member of the Zoo Crew roster months ago. However, after a shoulder surgery earlier this spring, he was no longer listed on the roster.

Zoo Crew is the No. 2 seed in the Pittsburgh region. Here is a list of the other teams competing in the region.

SCHEDULE

There will be four games on July 20, the opening day of the Pittsburgh regional.

Game 1: 1 PM — Dubois Dream Vs. Happy Valley Hoopers

Game 2: 3 PM — Best Virginia Vs. Brotherly Love Pro Am Foundation

Game 3: 6 PM — Stars of Storrs Vs. Herkimer Originals

Game 4: 8 PM — Zoo Crew Vs. Million $ Worth of Game

The second round of games will take place on Monday, July 22. The winners of Game 1 and Game 3 will play each other, while the winners of Game 2 and Game 4 will play each other.
