Pitt to Play Ohio State in 2024

On Monday, Ohio State men's basketball released its 2024-25 schedule and included Pitt. The Buckeyes will host the Panthers on Nov. 29.

On Monday, Ohio State men’s basketball released its 2024-25 non-conference schedule and included Pitt.

The Buckeyes will take on the Panthers in Columbus, Ohio on Nov. 29.

According to Pitt’s official website, the Panthers have only played the Buckeyes once in their history. That game came in 2002, when Pitt won 69-49 at the Petersen Events Center.

Radford – Nov. 4

Pitt will open the season with a home game against Radford on Nov. 4. Jon Rothstein reported this news in May.

Virginia Military Institute

According to Rocco Miller, VMI will be traveling to the Petersen Events Center to take on Pitt as part of the Greenbrier Tip Off Event’s on-campus series. 

Greenbrier Tip Off Event – Nov. 22-24

Just before the holidays, Pitt will be heading down to the historic Greenbrier Resort to play in a first-of-its-kind tip-off event. Wisconsin, LSU, and UCF are also in the MTE. Ticket-only packages, based on availability, will go on sale in the fall.

Ohio State – Nov. 29

Pitt will travel to Columbus to take on the Buckeyes on the 29th.

West Virginia (TBD)

The Panthers will host the Mountaineers. No date has been announced yet for that matchup.

The last four dates (2023-24, 2022-23, 2021-22, and 2019-20) of the Backyard Brawl have been as follows: Dec. 6, Nov. 11, Nov. 12, Nov. 15.

Mississippi State – Dec. 4

Pitt will travel to Mississippi State to take on the Bulldogs in the SEC/ACC Challenge.

This will be the third meeting between the two schools, and the first since Pitt eliminated the Bulldogs in the 2023 NCAA Tournament First Four with a one-point win in Dayton.
