On Thursday, a notable recruit in the class of 2025 trimmed his recruiting list down.
Kiyan Anthony, the son of former Syracuse and NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, cut his list down to six schools. He included the following programs in his list: Syracuse, Auburn, Florida State, Ohio State, USC, and Rutgers. Anthony held an offer from Pitt, which he received on June 15 last year, just hours into the contact period when coaches were first allowed to reach out directly to players in his class.
However, it appears safe to assume that the Panthers will not be receiving a commitment from Anthony.
This was not a surprising development, as Anthony has been naming other schools as the programs prioritizing him for a while throughout interviews. Although there was an offer on the table for him to come to Pitt, it did not appear as though the Pitt staff was prioritizing Anthony. The big-name recruit has established himself as one of the top players in the class of 2025. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard prospect is ranked as the No. 31 player in the country by 247 Sports’ Composite Rankings, and he is also the No. 1 player in New York.
Pitt has been going for several recruits in the 2025 class for a while now, including Amari Evans, Meleek Thomas, Isaiah Denis, Davion Hannah, Omari Witherspoon, and more. Witherspoon recently received an offer from the Panthers’ staff, and Hannah recently included the Panthers in his top-schools list.
