UPDATE, 9 AM: Pitt women’s soccer player Deborah Abiodun started for Nigeria in the Olympics yesterday, playing for Pitt head coach Randy Waldrum’s squad. Check out the recap below!

UPDATE, 8 AM: Former WPIAL sharpshooter Peja Strobl is heading to Germany on a two-year contract to play professionally. He plans to play college basketball in the United States in 2026.

 

UPDATE, 7 AM: Pitt sophomore infielder Anthony LaSala impressed in his summer league Thursday, smacking a three-run home run to help the Strasburg Express advance to a Valley Baseball League Division title matchup.

LaSala — a 5-foot-10 bat from Hopewell in Aliquippa, Pa. — is coming off a sophomore season at Pitt in which he hit .273 with a home run and six RBI in 22 at-bats.
