Just one week after offering 2025 prospect Omari Witherspoon, Pitt basketball has found itself in Witherspoon’s top-schools list.
On Monday, he announced his list, trimming his recruitment down to ten schools before heading into his senior season of high-school ball.
The list included Pitt, Clemson, Butler, George Mason, Vanderbilt, Maryland, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Xavier.
Witherspoon is a 6-foot-4 guard out of Washington D.C. St. John’s College Prep. He plays for D.C. Premier in the summertime, and has been one of the biggest stock risers of the summer across all levels of travel basketball.
Witherspoon holds offers from many different division one programs, including Pitt, Clemson, Oklahoma State, West Virginia, Duquesne, and others.
Just before he posted his offer from Pitt on social media last Monday, Witherspoon’s visit schedule was announced. 247 Sports’ Brandon Jenkins announced that Witherspoon plans to take the following official visits.
Aug. 30: West Virginia
Sept. 6: Virginia Tech
Sept. 13: Butler
Sept. 20: Vanderbilt
Sept. 27: James Madison
Oct. 18: Maryland
James Madison did not make his top-ten list. It is unclear at the moment whether or not Witherspoon will still visit the Dukes.
Witherspoon is among the top targets for Pitt at the guard spot in the 2025 class. The Panthers’ staff has offered four prospects in the 2025 class this spring and summer, with offers going out to Witherspoon, CJ Ingram, Isaiah Denis, and Davion Hannah. Denis and Hannah are both scheduled to visit the Panthers in the upcoming months, so check out the 2025 Pitt basketball recruiting board to see when they will be on campus.
