Top 2025 WPIAL Offensive Lineman Commits to MAC School

The top remaining offensive lineman available in the WPIAL Class of 2025 is officially off the board.

Jaiden Brown-Demery — a 6-foot-4, 345-pound prospect out of West Mifflin High School — announced Thursday via X that he has committed to the University of Akron.

Brown-Demery picked the Zips over other top choices of his hometown team in Pitt, West Virginia and Bowling Green thanks to a blend of opportunities that Akron presents.

“Family, the opportunity to play immediately and the proximity to home,” Brown-Demery told Pittsburgh Sports Now on why he selected the Zips.

The chance to play as soon as he steps on campus, along with  a strong coaching staff around him were two important aspects Brown-Demery desired in a school and he gets that with Akron.

“The opportunity of playing now if I put the work in and the knowledge of coach [Joel] Rodriguez and coach Nyeem Wartman-White, I just feel that they will help me reach my highest potential as soon as possible,” he said.

A three-star recruit, according to On3, Brown-Demery was ranked as the 57th-highest interior offensive lineman in the cycle and 23rd-best player from Pa.

After Brown-Demery’s verbal pledge, Akron head coach and Pittsburgh native Joe Moorhead lands his second WPIAL product in the class after OLSH defensive lineman Vann Kavals committed in July.

Akron’s 2024 summer roster boasts a handful of local talent including Noel Roach (Penn Hills), Kam Cheatom (Brashear), Myles Walker (Central Valley), Dominic Monz (South Fayette), Alex Fox (New Castle), Colin Lyons (McKeesport) and Joseph Castle (Norwin).

With Brown-Demery’s college decision out of the way, he can now focus on preparing for his senior season at West Mifflin.

“It’s a big load off not only my back, but my mother and father. Now, i can focus on my senior year as well as helping teammates and myself reach our goals.”
