Pat Narduzzi will only offer an injury update if there’s a season-ending injury, and unfortunately, there is one for the Pitt Panthers.
Narduzzi announced Monday before practice that Mason Lindsay will miss his freshman season due to an undisclosed injury. It’s a tough break for the big offensive lineman from Maryland, who will redshirt this season.
“Mason Lindsey from DeMatha High School in Maryland, a true freshman, came in with an injury that we took care of,” Narduzzi said. “Got him cleaned up and fixed and he’ll be out for the year. So, really came in injured so we’ll get that cleaned up and move from there.”
Lindsay committed to Pitt last June over offers from Boston College, Charlotte, Maine, Maryland, USF, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
“They were just really, really nice,” Lindsay told PSN at the time. “The hospitality when I first got there was amazing. They already made it feel like home. And then just the overall setup they had when it came to the field, their practices, the weight room, everything felt perfect. It wasn’t too big, wasn’t too small, it’s not too far away. It’s just perfect.”
Lindsay likely would’ve redshirted this season anyway as he adapted to life as a college football player, but now he will obviously focus on recovery before getting back in the mix at tackle.
“Another athletic, long offensive tackle,” Narduzzi said about Lindsay on National Signing Day in 2023. “He got to DeMatha, transferred in there, and has been starting ever since he got there. Had a little injury as a junior, which I think hampered his recruiting maybe a little bit, but we saw through that. He’s a big, athletic — he’s tough, he’s mean and he’s got a real strong mom and dad there at home.”
Pitt is reasonably well experienced on the defensive line entering the season, but there is competition on the interior for who will start at center and the two guard spots. Terrence Moore, Lyndon Cooper, Ryan Jacoby, BJ Williams and Jason Collier Jr. are in the mix.
UMaine and Charlotte dodged it there
Just 100% pure A-hole.
best wishes Mason … stay strong … H2P !
