UPDATE, 7 AM: Cruce Brookins — a 6-foot-2, 195-pound safety from Steel Valley in Munhall, Pa. — put together one of the most impressive springs in recent memory, and he’s off to a hot start this summer.
Brookins already has two takeaway stickers on his helmet through the first week of fall camp, signifying that he’s already created a couple of splash plays this summer. While he isn’t going to enter the summer as one of the starting safeties, he’s in line for a much bigger role as a redshirt freshman.
