Report: Dru Joyce, Duquesne to Return to Saint Vincent-Saint Mary for Game

Once again, Duquesne will be playing a game at Saint Vincent-Saint Mary High School, where Dukes’ head coach Dru Joyce III played alongside LeBron James.

Joyce played for former Duquesne head coach Keith Dambrot at SVSM. Last season, the Dukes traveled over to Akron to play a game there in the high-school gym, and once again, the Dukes will be heading West to Akron.

On Tuesday, scheduling guru Rocco Miller reported that Duquesne is finalizing an agreement to meet Towson in Akron for a non-conference, neutral-site battle at SVSM on Dec. 14.

Last year, Duquesne played against Bradley in Akron, winning by two points. Jimmy Clark III led the way with 21 points, while Dae Dae Grant and Andrei Savrasov contributed 17 apiece. All three players are gone, and Duquesne has a new-look team this year in year one under Joyce.

Towson is heading into year 14 under head coach Pat Skerry, who has the team to three-straight 20-win seasons. Last year, the Tigers went 20-14 overall and 11-7 in CAA play. The team looked to Christian May, Dylan Williamson, and Tyler Tejada for scoring production, as all three players averaged more than ten points per game. All three underclassmen return this year for Towson. Skerry’s Tigers also return big man Messiah Jones, who started 27 games last year.

Duquesne’s full schedule has not been announced yet. The following games have been reported so far.
