Sights & Sounds: Week 3 of Pitt Camp Gets Underway

Pitt fall camp, practice No. 11

Week 3 of Pitt fall camp commenced Tuesday morning on the South Side.

The Panthers are back out on the field following the team’s first scrimmage of the summer this past Saturday.

Prior to practice, head coach Pat Narduzzi spoke with the media and noted that the defense won the scrimmage and forced two interceptions coming from safeties P.J. O’Brien and Cruce Brookins.

“Defense won the scrimmage pretty handily,” Narduzzi said. “They got after it, they were locked in. Offense didn’t do as good as a job executing as we’d like.”

With the victory, Pitt’s defense was out at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex in the blue jerseys flying around and working on disrupting the football.

Offensively, the battle at the quarterback position continues with Nate Yarnell still expected to take the starting job, but Eli Holstein continues to press.

One unit that has also built some intrigue is the running back room. Senior Rodney Hammond Jr. and Western Carolina transfer Desmond Reid look good and will seemingly trade on and off throughout the season. Sixth-year back Daniel Carter also looks sharp. He slimmed down during the offseason and is looking quicker on his feet, so watch out for some increased time for Carter.
