If you’re looking to get single-game tickets for the Backyard Brawl through Pitt, you’re out of luck.
Pitt announced Tuesday morning that all single-game tickets for the Pitt vs. West Virginia matchup next month are sold out. The only way to get tickets through Pitt Athletics is through a mini-plan or season tickets.
The Panther Club pre-sale and group tickets are officially unavailable.
Pitt initially withheld single-game tickets for the Backyard Brawl, which is not uncommon for marquee matchups — with sales closer to the event’s date at a higher cost. It happened for the Brawl in Pittsburgh in 2022 and Morgantown last year.
The Pitt season ticket plans start at $175, and the mini-plan package of three home games starts at $65. But if WVU is included in the mini-plan, the price will be significantly higher than a basic package.
The 2024 Backyard Brawl will kick off at Acrisure Stadium on Sept. 14 at 3:30 p.m. ESPN or ESPN2 will broadcast the matchup, with further information coming at a later date.
West Virginia head coach Neal Brown is coming off the best season in his tenure with the Mountaineers and returns what should be a strong offense led by Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year dark horse Garrett Greene and a powerful rushing attack. WVU added from the transfer portal to bolster its defensive unit and should pick up from where it left off last season. The Mountaineers will be a tough matchup.
Pitt is 62-41-3 against West Virginia in a series that extends back to the 19th century. WVU is coming off a 17-6 win against the Panthers last season in Morgantown, a game in which the Panthers failed to continue a modest one-game win streak since the renewal of the Brawl.
The early game line for Pitt is the Backyard Brawl has set the Mountaineers as the favorite. West Virginia is favored by 4.5 points — with odds for either spread set at -110.
May the pox be on Scott Barnes for restarting this series. WV wins whether they win or lose by ravaging the Pitt roster. If you’re going to play them make it the last game of the season like Clemson South Carolina. Heather you’re an A.
