Earlier this week, Burt signed a four-year contract extension to remain the leader of the Duquesne women’s basketball program.

“I would like to thank President Ken Gormley and Vice President of Athletics, Dave Harper for the continued support of our women’s basketball program,” Burt said in a press release. “With their guidance and support, we have been able to achieve high levels of measurable success on the court and in the classroom during my tenure at Duquesne. You win with great administrations and we have great people helping us be our best every day.”

Burt has been the head coach of the program since the 2013-14 season, and has become the winningest coach in Duquesne WBB history since then. He owns a 209-132 career record while leading the Dukes, and also sits at seventh all-time in terms of Atlantic 10 wins by a coach (107).

Burt is the lone coach in Duquesne WBB history to surpass 200 career wins.

“Our women’s basketball team members represent what is best about our program,” Burt said in the release. “Our Duquesne women are a polestar for any young athlete who aspires to be their best. Our student-athletes academic success in challenging majors while continuing our winning basketball tradition in the A-10 is coupled with strong community service that enriches the Western Pennsylvania region. I am incredibly lucky and filled with pride to represent such a great university and to work with outstanding young women.”

Burt led Duquesne to a 21-13 record last season, going 13-5 in A10 play. The Dukes are looking to return to the NCAA Tournament this season for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign.
