Pitt has been after Derek Dixon for years now.
The class-of-2025 prospect out of Gonzaga in Washington D.C. received an offer from the Panthers years ago. He has since visited campus three times — twice unofficially and once officially, and still communicates with the staff frequently. This summer, playing for Team Takeover, he led his team deep into the Nike EYBL Peach Jam playoffs, in front of Jeff Capel, Milan Brown, and hundreds of other coaches in attendance.
Dixon is now receiving some high praise from an ESPN scout and former Division One head coach.
Paul Biancardi released his list of 2025 Best Shotmakers, including Dixon on there.
According to Synergy’s database that includes Dixon’s junior year high-school stats, Dixon rates as “good” in spot up and transition opportunities. He rates as “average” in P&R ball handler situations, and “very good” coming off screens and handoffs. He drove left more than he drove right in the high school season, per Synergy, but had a better finishing rate when going right.
