Over the weekend, Duquesne basketball earned some positive news regarding a prospect that the staff offered in May.

The Dukes made Arness Lawson’s top-four list. Steve Wright offered Lawson in early May 2024, and now, he is down to four schools: Duquesne, Tulane, Utah State, and Northern Kentucky.

The 6-foot-2 guard is a Pickerington, Ohio native, and plays his high-school ball for Pickerington North. He is ranked as the No. 7 player in the state of Ohio by 247 Sports, and the No. 214 player in the nation, per the site’s composite rankings.

Playing for All-Ohio Red this summer on the Nike EYBL circuit, Lawson shined in his role. He ranked No. 10 at the highest level of AAU ball on the circuit in terms of offensive efficiency among players with at least 16 possessions per game. Joined by Cam Boozer, AJ Dybantsa, and other five-star prospects on the list, Lawson made a great impression averaging 0.98 points per possession, per Synergy.

Duquesne is currently in two top-four lists: Lawson’s, and Gevonte Ware’s. Ware is a four-star prospect out of 1 of 1 Academy in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Dukes are also on the top-six list of Dezmon Briscoe.

Ware, a 6-foot-9, four-star prospect out of Charlotte, North Carolina, also included Rutgers, Wake Forest, and DePaul in his recruitment list. He visited Duquesne recently.

In addition, Briscoe told PSN that he plans to visit all six schools, including a trip to Duquesne on Aug. 23-25.
