PITTSBURGH — The Pitt Panthers are less than two weeks out from its season opener at Acrisure Stadium on Aug. 31 against Kent State.
Over the weekend, the Panthers had an opportunity to hit the turf on the North Shore for scrimmage No. 2.
On Tuesday, head coach Pat Narduzzi detailed the takeaways from the scrimmage.
The biggest storyline of camp continues to be the quarterback competition between redshirt junior Nate Yarnell and redshirt freshman Alabama transfer Eli Holstein. However, Narduzzi is still holding out on naming a starter for the season that is rapidly approaching.
Narduzzi pointed out that the offense won roughly 39-25, a different outcome compared to scrimmage No. 1.
Offensive penalties seemed minimized as Narduzzi stated that the 1s and 2s took just one penalty — a welcomed improvement from last weekend.
Despite coming out on the wrong end, the defense grabbed two takeaways — one on a botched exchange and one on a tipped pass.
