Once again, Meleek Thomas is on the move.
Thomas, the five-star Pittsburgh native who is heading into his final season before college basketball, has been on the move throughout the summer playing in high-profile events. The latest? A SLAM Magazine basketball event at historic Rucker Park.
Thomas competed in the SLAM Summer Classic for the second-straight summer on Wednesday, playing alongside No. 1 prospect AJ Dybantsa, as well as Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan Anthony and Dominique Wilkins’ son Jacob Wilkins.
He recently starred in a Gatorade x SLAM promotional video, showcasing his love for his home city of Pittsburgh.
The five-star prospect, who played three years for Lincoln Park in the WPIAL, is now playing for Overtime Elite in Atlanta, Georgia before he goes off to college. Along the journey, he has signed several deals, representing large brands and appearing in huge events. Recently, he signed with Jay Z’s agency Roc Nation Sports.

The highly-touted guard won back-to-back WPIAL and PIAA titles this past high-school season as a sophomore and junior at Lincoln Park, averaging 22.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. He has been a significant Pitt target since early in his high school career and has been to numerous games over the past few seasons alongside former teammate and current Pitt guard Brandin Cummings.

“The culture of basketball in Pittsburgh I would say, it’s not really known for basketball,” Thomas said in the video for Gatorade. “To bring a basketball culture, I want other kids and people to do what I do and just creating a basketball culture inside of my city it’s just, it’s a blessing.”

I wouldn’t be so sure if I were you. He’ll get his money, but there are other things that he finds important.
So true! The NBA is much different than the NFL. Average NBA players make 10x what NFL players make. Money will come, if he’s patient.
