Duquesne’s basketball staff has had a busy offseason recruiting.
Even though the fall semester began Monday, the staff was still busy recruiting and offered a prospect in the class of 2026.
Duquesne basketball on Pittsburgh Sports Now is sponsored by The Summit Academy: setting young men on the path to a better future.
On Monday, Duquesne offered class-of-2026 prospect Aaron Ekwere out of Finland. Ekwere is a 6-foot-6 wing who holds two other division one offers: one from Radford, and one from South Carolina.
Ekwere competed for the Finnish U18 National Team this summer, performing well in the Nordic Championship event in July. He posted averages of 10.2 points and 4 rebounds per game there, according to CBB Europe.
Duquesne head coach Dru Joyce III and his staff have offered 16 players since May 1, according to the Duquesne Basketball Recruiting Board on Pittsburgh Sports Now. This was the first reported offer given out by the staff in the month of August. In July, Duquesne offered prospects Quentin Rhymes, James Sanderson, KJ Cochran, Devin Booker, Jordan Tillery, Dezmon Briscoe, and Alex Wilkins.
Briscoe will visit Duquesne from Sept. 13-15 for an official visit. He included the Dukes in his top-school list last month. The Dukes were the only mid-major level team to make the list, along with high-major programs DePaul, Xavier, Cincinnati, Iowa, and Butler. He plans to visit all of the schools on his list.
