Pitt is going after several guards in the class of 2025 right now, including Pittsburgh native Amari Evans.
Evans, along with Meleek Thomas, began his high-school basketball career in the Steel City. He played for Bishop Canevin, before transferring to Overtime Elite in Atlanta, Georgia years ago to play ball down south. Now, Thomas is there, too, also playing for OTE. Regardless of where they’re playing their final season of prep basketball, both players seem to still be near the very top of Pitt’s wish list for the class of 2025.
Both players have now taken official visits to Pitt, as Thomas’ came during this past season and Evans’ came early this summer.
Now, both players are visiting colleges all over the country, and this weekend, one of them was in SEC territory. Evans was in Knoxville, Tennessee this past weekend, visiting the Volunteers of Tennessee.
Evans documented his official visit to Tennessee on Instagram. Check that out below.
Evans cut his list earlier this summer to include the following ten programs: Pitt, Mississippi State, Georgetown, TCU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Villanova, Tennessee, Illinois, and Xavier. On3’s Joe Tipton reported that Evans scheduled four official visits: Tennessee, Ole Miss, TCU, and Xavier.
The four-star prospect is ranked as the No. 96 player in the class of 2025 according to 247 Sports’ class rankings.
Earlier this summer, Evans joined Pittsburgh Sports Now to break down his recent visit to Pitt, talk about being from Pittsburgh, making the transition to OTE, and much more. Stay tuned on Pittsburgh Sports Now for more on Evans’ recruitment throughout the fall.
