PITTSBURGH — As Pitt football prepares for Week 2 against Cincinnati, the coaching staff is reviewing and evaluating the team’s performance from the season-opening victory over Kent State and that includes special teams coordinator and tight ends coach Jacob Bronowski and defensive line coach Tim Daoust.
Bronowski was brought in to bring energy and a refreshing change on special teams. Outside of a fumble from Konata Mumpfield on Saturday, his unit performed well with Desmond Reid highlighting the day with a 78-yard punt return.
On Tuesday, Bronowski spoke with the media on the South Side to give his thoughts on Reid’s return, the kick coverage and return units, along with the performance of tight ends Gavin Bartholomew and Jake Overman.
Daoust also spoke with the media on how his unit competed against Kent State. Daoust noted that he played 12 total guys with six on the interior and six at end. Keeping players fresh is an important key to the defensive line as he hopes to establish depth in his first year with Pitt.
On top of that, Daoust provided feedback on different linemen such as freshman Sincere Edwards, Indiana transfer Nick James and redshirt junior Nahki Johnson.
