As the NCAA recruiting period opened up on Wednesday, many coaches from around the country traveled to see high-school prospects in an effort to recruit the players to their school.
One of the coaches that is on the move is a Pitt graduate who has coached in the area before but is now on the West Coast. Jeremy Grubbs, a longtime high school and NCAA coach, will be in Pittsburgh this week on behalf of Pepperdine basketball. Grubbs joined the Pepperdine staff as an assistant coach in 2024.
Grubbs told Pittsburgh Sports Now that he will be watching Aliquippa’s Josh Pratt as well as Pine Richland’s Grant Spacciapolli while in town. In addition, he will visit Allderdice and Imani Christian this week.
Grubbs has spent time coaching at numerous collegiate programs, including La Roche, Coker, Marshall, and others.
Pratt, out of Aliquippa, transferred in from Lincoln Park prior to his sophomore year. As a sophomore, Pratt took the court by storm as he was an instrumental piece of the Quips’ championship team that won a Class 2A district title at the Pete and state crown in Hershey, where he dropped a game-high 36 points on 14 of 19 shooting against Holy Cross.

Pratt holds offers from Hofstra, Pepperdine, Northeastern, and Robert Morris, and has interest from several other Division One programs.
Imani Christian is home to RJ Sledge, who, along with Pratt, leads the WPIAL in offers (out of all uncommitted prospects). Sledge, a 5-foot-10 guard, holds offers from Canisius, North Carolina A&T, Bethune Cookman, and Fordham.
Allderdice is home to Trey Schachter, who holds offers from UC Santa Barbara and Green Bay.
Spacciapolli is a guard prospect out of Pine Richland in the class of 2026.
