Meleek Thomas has arrived in Atlanta.
Thomas, the Pittsburgh native who is now a five-star basketball recruit, decided to transfer from Lincoln Park to Overtime Elite in Atlanta, Georgia for his senior season.
He officially arrived recently, as shown by the OTE social media channels and their promotion of Thomas this week.
This week, Thomas earned visits from coaches at UConn, Arkansas, Pitt, and Kansas State, a source close to Thomas told Pittsburgh Sports Now.
Thomas himself will visit Alabama on Sept. 27 and then Arkansas on October 5, per PSN’s source.
Thomas, who is heading into his final season before college basketball, has been on the move throughout the summer playing in high-profile events. He recently competed in the SLAM Summer Classic for the second-straight summer on Wednesday, playing alongside No. 1 prospect AJ Dybantsa, as well as Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan Anthony and Dominique Wilkins’ son Jacob Wilkins.
The five-star prospect, who played three years for Lincoln Park in the WPIAL, is now onto his time with Overtime Elite before he goes off to college. Along the journey, he has signed several deals, representing large brands and appearing in huge events. Recently, he signed with Jay Z’s agency Roc Nation Sports.
Five Star Meleek Thomas Stars in Gatorade Promo, Talks Pittsburgh Hoops Culture
The highly-touted guard won back-to-back WPIAL and PIAA titles this past high-school season as a sophomore and junior at Lincoln Park, averaging 22.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. He has been a significant Pitt target since early in his high school career and has been to numerous games over the past few seasons alongside former teammate and current Pitt guard Brandin Cummings.
“The culture of basketball in Pittsburgh I would say, it’s not really known for basketball,” Thomas said in the video for Gatorade. “To bring a basketball culture, I want other kids and people to do what I do and just creating a basketball culture inside of my city it’s just, it’s a blessing.”
