Omari Witherspoon’s recruitment is moving quickly.
The guard out of St. John’s College Prep in Washington D.C. first dropped a top ten list weeks ago. He then took a few more visits, including Maryland, Pitt, and West Virginia, among other trips. After wrapping up his most recent visit, which was with the Panthers last Sunday and Monday, Witherspoon decided to cut his list again, this time down to three schools.
Now, as Witherspoon is deciding between Pitt, Maryland, and Vanderbilt, insiders are beginning to predict where he will land once he does end up committing.
247Sports has two predictions logged in his account. On August 29, Jeff Ermann, the publisher of 247’s Maryland Terrapins site InsideMDSports, predicted that Witherspoon would select Maryland with a confidence level of 8 out of 10. All time, Ermann is 312 for 468 on his recruiting predictions (66.7%). Then, on Thursday night, DMV basketball scout Colby Giacubeno logged a prediction for Witherspoon to land at Pitt with a confidence level of 6 out of 10. Giacubeno is 123 for 131 all time on predictions, a 93.9% mark.
A Rivals.com publisher has also predicted that Witherspoon will commit to Pitt on his profile.
On Friday morning, just minutes ago, On3’s Jamie Shaw also logged a prediction for Witherspoon to land at Pitt with a confidence rating of 60 (out of 100).
Witherspoon is one of seven prospects that currently has Pitt in their top-school lists. The three-star prospect (247 Sports) is the lowest-rated of the bunch according to 247 Sports. The other prospects with Pitt in their top-school lists are listed here: Meleek Thomas, Isaiah Denis, Nikola Bundalo, Amari Evans, Davion Hannah, and Derek Dixon.
Pitt’s staff will visit Derek Dixon and Meleek Thomas this week.
