Pitt Receives Votes in the Latest Coaches Poll

Pitt is 2-0 and receiving votes in the Coaches Poll entering a big-time Backyard Brawl matchup this weekend.

Okay, well, it’s just two points. But that’s still consideration. Pitt is one of eight ACC programs to receive votes in the Week 3 Coaches Poll, and those points could have come about one of two ways.

The voting process awards 25 points for a first-place vote, 24 points for a second-place vote, 23 points for a third-place vote and so on. So, Pitt was either 24th on one ballot or 25th on two ballots. Either way, the Panthers are in the mix. It’s what they do now that will determine their future standing.

The ACC has just two teams ranked in the latest Coaches Poll, Miami at 12 (up three spots) and Clemson at 20 (up two spots). But six ACC programs received votes.

Boston College leads the way with 36 points (27th), and Syracuse (33 points, 28th), North Carolina State (10 votes, 38th), North Carolina (5 points, t-41st) and Cal (5 points, t-41st) also received votes. Pitt checks in at 43rd.

Pitt is coming off a 28-27 win against Cincinnati, coming back from 21 down to knock off the Bearcats in the largest comeback for the Panthers in the last half-decade. It was certainly a wild afternoon at Nippert Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.

“It’s a gutsy win by our guys,” Pat Narduzzi said Saturday in his post-game presser. “Couldn’t be prouder of the effort they gave. We came up in the fourth quarter and said we’re going to win this thing. Broke down on, ‘Win.’

“Our guys believed. It shows true character to come back from being 21 down. Players made plays. We made plays in the second half on offense and defense.”

Pitt has a lot of adjustments to make entering the Backyard Brawl this weekend, but a win against West Virginia (on national television) will go a long way in earning more pull in national voting.

Our corners looked shaky. That’s one takeaway I don’t see being talked about enough. Where have you gone, Jason Pinnock?

We need to get our CBs help on 3rd and long. Pitt never, ever, ever takes out our slow LB and goes to a true dime package, with extra CBs to get double teams on WRs. Not sure where the LBs are, because the TEs and RBs have killed us on bubble screens too.
H2P!!!

Yes, especially at Mike linebacker. Louis and Biles look good though.

It’s mostly one starting corner. It’s time to give some others a shot at playing.

Offensive line play is weak, this defensive scheme is tired, It is getting old. This is not a top 25 team.
