One of Pitt’s top recruiting targets in the 2025 class wrapped up his official visit to an ACC rival.
Derek Dixon, a class-of-2025 guard out of Gonzaga Prep in Washington, D.C., visited the North Carolina Tar Heels over the weekend. On Monday, he shared the photos from his official visit on Instagram. Check out the photos below.

In an interview with Adam Zagoria of Zags Blog, Dixon updated his recruitment timeline.
“[I will have] a little bit of downtime just to get with my family and make this decision,” he told Zagsblog.
Previously, he told Zagoria’s site that he is eyeing a commitment date of Sept. 27.
Dixon has since visited Pitt’s campus three times — twice unofficially and once officially, and still communicates with the staff frequently. This summer, playing for Team Takeover, he led his team deep into the Nike EYBL Peach Jam playoffs, in front of Jeff Capel, Milan Brown, and hundreds of other coaches in attendance. Now, this week, Capel and Brown visited him at Gonzaga.
The 6-foot-5 guard is fielding a loaded recruitment that is now down to just six schools: North Carolina, Arizona, Pitt, Syracuse, Virginia, and Vanderbilt.
Earlier this summer, on an episode of The Pittsburgh Basketball Show, Dixon joined the show to talk about his recruitment, where Pitt stands, his relationships with Brown and Capel, and much more. Dixon gives a recruitment timeline in the interview, and also talks about two more upcoming visits to programs that are not in the ACC.

I hope Pitt is in on Baba Oladotun a 6/8 in. Freshman from Maryland. He is skinny but the young man can play.
