On Thursday, Pitt assistant coach Jason Capel took a trip down to North Carolina for recruiting purposes.
Capel visited Julius L. Chambers High School to check on some of Pitt’s targets. Coaches from North Carolina A&T and Virginia Tech were also there.
There are two prospects on the Pitt basketball 2026 recruiting board from Chambers: Markus Kerr and Tarris Bouie. Both Kerr and Bouie are 6-foot-4 guard prospects. On June 15, Pitt reached out to both prospects as soon as they could directly contact players in that class.
Bouie is a four-star prospect, ranked as the No. 95 player in the class of 2026 by 247 Sports. Kerr is a three star, ranked as the No. 144 player in the class of 2026 (also by 247).
Bouie holds offers from Alabama, Wake Forest, High Point, Appalachian State, Radford, Hampton, Charlotte, Mount St. Mary’s, and others, per 247 Sports.

Check out the class-of-2026 recruiting board for the Panthers, that includes prospects from all over the country. Pitt has reached out to at least 19 players in the junior high-school class, including Parker Robinson, a prospect from Overtime Elite (originally from the DMV) that Pitt checked out days ago.
Introducing the Pitt Basketball 2026 Recruiting Board
Pitt’s top target regardless of class seems to be Derek Dixon, a Washington, D.C. product. The Panthers, earlier this week, landed their first commitment in the 2025 class from Omari Witherspoon.
