One of the city’s top basketball prospects took a visit to a Division one program recently.

Green Bay is heading into year one of the Doug Gottlieb era. Gottlieb hosts a popular radio show on Fox Sports in addition to coaching. He and his staff recruited a talented transfer portal class quickly this offseason, and are looking to build off of Green Bay’s solid season last year (under Sundance Wicks — now at Wyoming).

“We are thrilled to welcome Doug Gottlieb to be the next Head Coach of our Men’s basketball program,” said UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander in a press release. “Coach Gottlieb’s energy and passion for the game, desire to mentor our student-athletes, and belief in the people of this region make him a great fit to continue to carry our momentum forward.”

Schachter is a 6-foot-3 guard in the class of 2025. He averaged just five points per game last season as a junior, per MaxPreps, but exploded onto the scene this summer. Schachter reported interest from Green Bay, Iona, Niagara, William & Mary, Chattanooga, UC Santa Barbara, West Liberty, and Williams College to Pittsburgh Sports Now earlier in the summer, and now, he holds offers from the Gauchos and as well as the Phoenix.
