Pittsburgh Sports Now has learned that both the Duquesne Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams have each seen a noticeable increase in its respective season-ticket sales.
According to a university spokesperson, the Duquesne men’s team has seen season tickets rise by 25% from a season ago.
Duquesne basketball on Pittsburgh Sports Now is sponsored by The Summit Academy: setting young men on the path to a better future.
Last season, the Dukes won the Atlantic 10 Championship, advancing to their first NCAA tournament in 47 years, where it defeated BYU in Omaha.
With that win against BYU, Duquesne won 16 of 19 games, before its season ended a couple of days later against Illinois in the second round.
Duquesne’s 25 wins last season were one off of the program record which was set in the 1954-55 season when the Dukes won the NIT over Dayton 70-58.
This year’s team does boast multiple players who started last year in Chabi Barre, David Dixon, Jake DiMichele and Kareem Rozier.
All of this season will be overseen by Dru Joyce III who moves into his first campaign as head coach.
The Duquesne women’s team has seen an increase of 15% following a season in which it returned to its 20-win standard for the first time since 2019-20, compiling 21 triumphs, also returning to the WNIT in the process.
Duquesne had winning streaks of four and six during Atlantic 10 play and made it to the conference semifinals, before coming back from eight points down with 1:03 left in regulation to beat Monmouth in overtime.
Atlantic 10 All-Conference First and Defensive Team selection Megan McConnell keys a group of six returning, with the addition of several transfers and freshmen that have the coaching staff eager for the season to start.
Dukes coach Dan Burt enters his 12th season leading the team and 18th overall with the program.
Both teams will tip off on Nov. 4 with the men slated to host Lipscomb and the women Princeton, each at the UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.
