As expected, Youngstown State’s defense had no answers for Eli Holstein and the Pitt offense as the Panthers rolled to a 73-17 win.
Holstein’s magical start to this Pitt career continued as he finished 16-of-24 for 247 yards and three touchdown passes, along with 93 yards rushing and two rushing touchdowns.
The redshirt freshman is the first Pitt quarterback to throw for three touchdowns in each of the first four games of the season since former Pitt quarterback Rod Rutherford in 2003.
The other story of the day was the career-best game for sixth-year senior running back Daniel Carter, who rushed for 115 yards and racked up three touchdowns.
All in all, it’s the kind of day Pitt wanted heading into their bye week.
Dayon Hayes called and said well if you are going to Win games …
