PITTSBURGH — Pitt football manufactured a resounding 73-17 win over Youngstown State to close out non-conference play and it was once again led by a key performance from redshirt freshman quarterback Eli Holstein.
The Panthers compiled 644 yards of offense — tied for fifth most in program history — behind 16 completions on 24 passes, 247 yards and three touchdowns through the air from Holstein, along with 93 rushing yards and two scores on the ground.
Holstein talked about the team’s most complete performance of the season thus far and what this offense has been able to accomplish across four games.
Running back Daniel Carter also spoke to the media after putting up a career day on the ground with 109 yards and two touchdowns as well as a 13-yard touchdown reception.
The sixth-year senior spoke on what his journey has been like over his collegiate career and what it meant for him to have a performance like he did on Saturday.
Linebackers Kyle Louis and Rasheem Biles also fielded questions following the win. The two outside linebackers have been key members of the defense and it once again showed against YSU.
Louis totaled six tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and interception. Biles was second on the team in tackling with seven, along with 1.5 tackles for loss.
