PGHSN PULSE

Welcome to the PGHSN PULSE, providing weekly insight into Pitt football, recruiting and high school football in Western Pa.

On the newest episode of the PGHSN PULSE, Nathan Breisinger and Karl Ludwig are back discussing the 4-0 start to the Pitt football season. It comes as the first undefeated start through four games since 2000. All four wins came in non-conference play, marking the first flawless out-of-conference slate in program history.

Nathan and Karl provide their takeaways from Pitt’s 73-17 win over Youngstown State, along with their thoughts on the Panthers’ start to the 2024 season.

Pitt redshirt freshman quarterback Eli Holstein has thrown for 1,183 yards and 12 touchdowns (fourth in the country) in his first four career college games. Holstein joins elite company becoming the first Pitt signal caller to win his first four games since Dan Marino. Nathan and Karl go into depth on how important Holstein has been to Pitt.

The duo also get into their top three surprises of the season so far and what to expect from the Panthers moving forward after their bye week.

PITT was not in a conference until 82’ BigEast. The late 70s early 80s teams had undefeated records far in excess of four games.
