Pitt quarterback Eli Holstein has been one of the biggest stories in the ACC and all of college football this season.
The redshirt freshman battled with Nate Yarnell for the starting position and was named the starter a week before the season. Since then, Holstein has performed like one of the best quarterbacks in all of college football.
In four games, the transfer from Alabama has completed 87-of-129 pass attempts (67%) for 1,183 yards with 12 touchdowns and two interceptions. Holstein has also been a major threat running the football, adding 189 yards and two more scores. Following Pitt’s victory over Youngstown State, Holstein has started to earn some postseason awards hype.
Holstein’s name and early season success have gone from a Pittsburgh story to a national story.
With this success comes the reality of current-day college football and the NIL world. This week’s headline story involves UNLV quarterback Matthew Sluka’s decision to opt out the remainder of the season over an NIL dispute, despite his team being 3-0 and ranked nationally.
NIL isn’t going anywhere, which makes Alliance 412 — the preferred NIL collective of Pitt football — all that much more important. The University of Pittsburgh knows this, and the football program also realizes the importance Holstein could have on the program over the next few seasons.
Alliance 412 has been proactive and awarded Eli Holstein with a little “gift” following his electric start to the season.
Those trucks usually look huge, but next to Holstein, it appears normal in size. He’s a big lad.
Actually, I’m curious if they stuck him with a 2×4. 4×4 trucks sit a lot higher
What is Alliance 412 doing for the two PITT teams that are #1 in the country right? Women’s volleyball and Men’s soccer. I know football is what most care about and where the money is but I hope the two best PITT teams are also being taken care of.
I’m sure it’s proportionate to the revenue they generate.
Nothing, football is the engine that drives the athletic department. Fact of life.
Nice truck….Now get back to getting focused on UNC…. We have a history of losing to the Heel’s worst teams!!!
Sure hope Eli won’t have to parallel park that boat in Oakland too often.
Why isn’t this against NCAA rules and regulations? And as Chris mentioned what about the women’s volley ball team that is setting the league on fire?
I’m all in favor of what Alliance 412 is doing. It’s a necessity nowadays. But it’s been 4 games. Love how the kid plays and how he carries himself. Good for him. But Pitt hasn’t played a conference game yet and they’re not ranked (yet). Shouldn’t this be done after the season? And considering the volleyball team is #1 in the country, I would hope there would be a pink car/truck coming in the near future as well. I believe in the kid and the team as well as significantly improving the NIL at Pitt, I just would have thought… Read more »
You know that jerk in Colorado is watching. Can’t coach worth a damn but doesn’t have to as long as he can plug and play.
