Notre Dame men’s basketball added an impressive recruit this week.
Micah Shrewsberry’s Fighting Irish program earned a commitment from top prospect Jalen Haralson, a five-star prospect in 247 Sports’ rankings. Haralson plays his high school ball for powerhouse La Lumiere in La Porte, Indiana. Ranked as the No. 13 overall player in the class of 2025, Haralson becomes the highest-ranked player to ever commit to Notre Dame since internet prospect rankings arrived.
He chose the Irish over Michigan State and Indiana, among many other programs that recruited him.
Haralson is a 6-foot-7 small forward. ESPN ranks him as the No. 10 overall player in the senior class.
“This decision was very hard, took a long time. But, I’ll be taking my talents to..” Haralson said live on 247 Sports’ YouTube channel before unzipping his jacket to reveal a Notre Dame shirt.
Notre Dame has made just one NCAA Tournament since 2017. Last year was year one of the Shrewsberry era, and the Irish finished 13-20 overall and 7-13 in ACC play. The former Penn State head coach will now look to Markus Burton, Matt Allocco, Tae Davis, Kebba Njie and others for production this year. His son Braeden Shrewsberry is a projected starter as well for the Irish.
Please don’t report on Notre Dame commits, esp those not from the area. Don’t know, but I’m going to assume, that pretty much all of us, don’t care or want ND related news.
Are you going to report on every kid that commits to an ACC school, doubtful, don’t make ND the exception.
I’d have to agre. Some people may enjoy seeing other ACC program commits from time to time, but I could care less. Stars mean nothing until they show it on the court. Dante Taylor was a highly rated 5 star, and he was no more than a good role player. I’d rather see more Pitt volleyball or soccer stories if the Pitt football and basketball stories are not there. Its a great fall to be a Pitt fan, who cares about a part time ACC member
Not to mention Steven Adams. Dixon wasted Adams’ only year at Pitt trying to ease him in. Who knows if this kid at ND will pan out or if Shrewsberry will utilize his true potential
Who cares
Perhaps George is gearing us up for when Dixon commits to North Carolina a little later
