On Friday, Pitt women’s basketball announced two team captains ahead of the 2024-25 season.
The Panthers announced on social media that the team’s two captains will be Brooklynn Miles and Khadija Faye this season.
Miles is a senior from Frankfort, Kentucky who transferred into Pitt from the University of Kentucky. She committed to Pitt out of the transfer portal in mid-May.
“Brooklynn is a dynamic veteran point guard with the ability to make an immediate impact in our program,” head coach Tory Verdi said when she signed. “She excels in transition with her ability to create for herself and her teammates. Defensively, she is one of the toughest on ball defenders that I’ve seen, and her competitive spirit will be contagious for the team.”
Last season, she led Kentucky in assists and steals, averaging three assists and 1.2 steals per game. She started 27 games as a junior, and is looking to make a big impact at Pitt in her senior campaign.
Faye is a graduate student at Pitt who transferred in from Texas. The Dakar, Senegal native joined Pitt in early May.
“Khadija is an experienced and talented post player who will make an immediate impact in our program,” said Verdi in a press release. “She can impact the game with her scoring efficiency, her rebounding effort on both ends of the floor, and her physicality in the lane. Khadija will be a key player for us on the court and in the locker room. I look forward to working with her this season and seeing her excel in our system.”
Faye scored 5.7 points per game across both of her seasons with the Longhorns. Prior to her time in Austin, she spent two seasons at Texas Tech.
