On Sunday night, former Pitt star Bub Carrington played in his first career NBA Preseason game, suiting up for the Washington Wizards.

Carrington played 8+ minutes in the first half, going 0-2 from the field, 0-1 from three-point range, and 0-2 from the free-throw line. He grabbed one rebound in the first half, turned the ball over twice, and committed two fouls.

In the second half, Carrington checked in for the first time nearly halfway through the third quarter. He committed a turnover off a drive, and missed a three pointer on the next possession. He then missed a pull-up two-point try. Carrington ran the point for the Wizards along with Jordan Poole and Kyshawn George also taking the ball up at times.

He scored his first NBA preseason points near the end of the third quarter, knocking down two free throws. Minutes later, Carrington led a fast break, dishing the ball to George, who quickly fired a pass to Marvin Bagley, who converted an and-one layup.

In the final frame, Carrington added his first field goal of his NBA preseason career as well as a few more free throws.

Carrington finished the game with the following final statline: 17:36 playing time, 7 points, 1-8 FG, 0-4 3FG, 5-7 FT, 2 REB, 1 AST, 3 TO, and 3 Fouls.

Carrington started 33 games for Pitt as a rookie, averaging 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. The Baltimore, Maryland native shot 41% from the field and 32% from three-point range in his freshman campaign, and alongside Jaland Lowe and Ishmael Leggett, starred for the Panthers in the back court.

Former Pitt standout Justin Champagnie is also on the Wizards.

Champagnie played two seasons at Pitt from 2019-21, earning All-ACC honors in 2020-21. He started 46 games in his Panther career, averaging 14.7 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in his collegiate career. In his stellar sophomore campaign, Champagnie averaged 18 points and 11.1 rebounds per game in 20 games. He went un-drafted out of Pitt but has now been on several NBA teams and has shined in the NBA G-League as well.
